This easy Cheesy Beef Meatball Bake recipe is a perfect weeknight meal. It’s easy to put together and you can bring the kids into the kitchen to help make the meatballs. 

This is a basic meatball recipe that has been perfected over the years and it is always a winner for the family. You can make it a complete meal by adding a side salad or place the whole mixture on top of a bed of spaghetti. 

Tips for Beef Meatball Success

• If you are working with frozen ground beef, make sure that you thaw it in the refrigerator for 24 hours prior to cooking. 
• Use a good, tasty marinara sauce.
• Drain the meat after browning or the mixture will be greasy once marinara is added.
• Sneak in those vegetables if you are having problems getting the family to eat them inside the meatball. 
• Don’t forget to add the egg. It helps to keep the meatball together by binding the mixture. 

HOW TO EAT THESE CHEESY BEEF MEATBALLS?

1. Grab a fork and get ready to dive in. 
2. Bake some bread and use it to dip into the sauce or top it off with a meatball. 
3. Add it to spaghetti or spaghetti squash.

Can You Freeze the meatballs? 

Yes, you can. After you bake the meatballs, place them in a zip lock bag or freezer safe container. Thaw for 24 hours and then finish out the recipe directions.

Cheesy Beef Meatball Bake

Yield: 4+ servings

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 27 minutes

Ingredients

• 1 pound ground beef
• ¼ cup white onion
• 1 large egg
• ½ teaspoon salt
• 1/3 cup Italian bread crumbs
• ½ teaspoon minced garlic
• 2 teaspoons parsley flakes
• 32 ounces marinara sauce
• 16 Bocconcini (small mozzarella balls)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
   
2. Add the beef, onion, egg, salt, bread crumbs, garlic and parsley flakes into a bowl. Use your hands to bind the mixture.
3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Create a round ball with a spoon or cookie scoop and place it on the baking sheet.
4. Repeat until all of the meat mixture is used.
5. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes.
6. Remove from the baking sheet and place in a cast-iron skillet.
7. Pour the marinara sauce over the top and place bocconcini balls over the top.
8. Bake for an additional 15 minutes and then broil for 1-2 minutes.
9. Remove and top with basil leaves.
