A couple weeks ago we finalized our plans to take off for a family vacation outside of Houston in the Woodlands area. When we lived in Tomball for a couple short years we had actually made it to The Woodlands Resort for a couples massage but had no idea that a couple years later we would actually be guests staying at this hotel. Whether you are looking for a staycation in the Houston area or looking for a quick getaway for the family the Woodlands Resort is a great place.
This vacation was a sentimental and emotional one for my husband and I. We knew that shortly after our trip we would be taking in my nephew who is 5 to live with us. This would be our last vacation for our family of three.
We arrived on a Friday, ready for three days of pool and relaxation time. I say that with caution because we did have a toddler on our hands who was very much ready for her “cation” as she called it.
After checking in and dropping off the bags we immediately put our swimsuits on to go check out the pool area. It’s made up of 5 swimming pools, a lazy river that actually creates waves, 2 slides for all ages, a café and splash pad. This is where we spent most of our time because it literally had something for the whole family and we could even dine there during our water breaks. The food ranges from wraps, salads and burgers along with a number of fun drinks. During our trip we ate lamb gyros, burgers, fish tacos, nachos and sipped on a couple virgin mojito drinks. During the day they have servers going around offering free snacks like frozen grapes and water so you stay hydrated.
Around 6pm they start the fire pit and there is usually a mad dash for s’mores.
Saturday I woke up and headed to the spa for a relaxing pre-natal massage. It’s a full spa that hosts a sauna, steam room and whirl pool for all guests. It was just the massage I needed during the trip.
As you can tell most our time was around the pool but the resort is surrounded by not just one but TWO beautiful 18 round golf courses. In fact Shaun was able to get in a few holes on Sunday before we left. Looking for a dining option? The Woodlands Resort has several options that will please your whole family. Of course you’ve got the usual room service option but there is so much more. You have the Woodlands Dining Hall that is a great place for families to connect over great food and not break the bank. You can also find a breakfast buffet each morning. There is also a Bistro, which is also a bar, located right next to registration desk. We actually ordered pizza from the bar and took it back to our room one night and it was delicious. Robard’s, which is the NEWEST addition to the resort is a standalone restaurant next to the hotel. It’s a fine dining steak house that is perfect for a date night or nice meal on vacation.
The Woodland’s Resort also has hiking, biking and walking trails all around the resort. In fact The Woodland’s is known for their trails for all visitors and people that live in the area. And if that isn’t enough, just miles from the hotel you have a world-class mall with a ton of dining options lined up along restaurant row.
We thoroughly enjoyed our family vacation at The Woodland’s Resort. It was the perfect vacation for our family and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
