It’s time for another round of Tried and True Recipes from around the web. I’m absolutely loving this series because I can finally make some recipes for our family from other bloggers. Not to mention I am learning some interesting facts about some of my food blogging friends.
Today’s recipe is from Liz at The Lemon Bowl. I have personally been following this blog for quite some time and I love the simplicity in her meals and they are healthy. She shares her own personal weight loss journey on her site. Liz just recently gave birth to her second boy and they are both so precious.
I was able to ask Liz some fun questions and here they go:
1) What is your favorite meal?
I love traditional Middle Eastern dishes prepared by my Aunt Paula. Her Stuffed Kousa Squash is probably my favorite meal of all time. They are cooked in a garlicky tomato broth flecked with plenty of dried mint. I could drink the broth alone for dinner!
2) What is your favorite beverage?
My favorite cocktail is an Audrey Saunders. It’s a gin-based drink made with ginger beer, simple syrup, lime juice, fresh mint and club soda. It’s refreshing, bubbly and has a hint of spice from the ginger.
3) Tell me a random fact about yourself.
I was the class speaker of my graduating class at Boston University. Speaking in front of a crowd is never easy but this has given me the confidence to publicly speak many times since.
4) What do you like most about having a blog?
I love connecting with other people who are working to live healthier lives or reach personal weight loss goals. Initially, I was nervous to share my weight loss journey and open up about the unhealthy habits that led to my reality as an overweight adult but it turned out to be the best thing I ever did for my blog.
5) Savory or sweet?
Savory every day and 9 times on Sunday. I can’t tell you the last time I was even remotely tempted to eat a Girl Scout cookie or a glazed donut. They don’t even remotely sound good to me, especially now that I know how much time in the gym it takes to burn off each bite. Savory foods? That’s another story. I have a hard time resisting crusty bread, sharp cheeses or salty meats. And if I’m at a ballgame there’s a 99% chance I’m getting roasted peanuts and enjoying every salty calorie.
6) If you could cook for a celebrity, who would that be?
I would love to cook for Chef Michael Symon. He’s Greek and his family shares a love of my favorite ingredients: lemon, olive oil and garlic. Plus, he’s really cool and laid back. I heart him.
