The Lodges at Deer Valley

We called The Lodges at Deer Valley home a couple of weekends ago. If you follow me on Instagram you would have noticed that we had a little getaway. Shaun and I were very fortunate to get an adult vacation for the first time since having Olivia. As much as we love Olivia it was important for us to have some time without her.
We arrived late Thursday evening giving us enough time to get to Deer Valley, check in, drop off luggage and head to dinner before returning back to The Lodges.
One thing Deer Valley resorts offer is free transportation around the whole resort. Shaun and I took full advantage of free rides. All we had to do was go down to the bell service at The Lodges and tell them where we needed to go. Usually they had a cadillac SUV waiting to take us and the wait time was never longer than 5 minutes. When they drop you off you just call the number on your room key when you are ready to be picked up. It was really that simple.
The Lodges at Deer Valley are within walking distance to the ski slopes. One thing I didn’t know about Deer Valley was that it has a ton of ski mountains in close proximity.
Saturday we woke up and enjoyed  a nice breakfast at our hotel. They have a waffle bar, fresh selection of meats, cereal, fruit and bread. It was the perfect pick-me-up before taking off to the slopes. We sat around and chatted with a couple of people and then took off to the mountain for skiing.
After getting our tickets and ski rentals we headed off to ski school #skithedifference. I’ve skied many times but always enjoy taking a quick lesson to calm my nerves since I have a fear of skiing. Shaun is a snowboarder and hadn’t skied in YEARS and he knew that he needed a proper lesson before getting on the mountain. We met up with our ski instructor Christian from New York. He went over the basics and we went on a couple of bunny runs with him before taking off for lunch. It’s always hard saying bye to the ski instructor because I just have this calm sense when I am skiing with a professional.
After lunch we headed up to the top of the mountain to get a couple more hours of skiing in before turning in for the day. If you have ever skied at Deer Valley you know that the snow is AWESOME. In fact it snowed approximately 24 inches in the 3 days we were there visiting. After a day full of skiing you can keep your skis and poles at the complimentary storage at the base of the mountain. I know many places make you take everything and drag it all back the next day, so it was nice to leave everything there ready for the next day of skiing.
If skiing isn’t your thing there is a main street that is full of fun shops and great eateries. You can go snow tubing, snowmobiling, to the movies or just lounge around in our room. I won’t lie I stayed pretty cozy in my pajamas next to our fireplace with a hot cup of coffee. If I didn’t have a little girl to get back to I think I would have stayed there forever.

What a wonderful weekend. I wish I could ski but I can’t,not even a little. I look hilarious on the slopes. At least staying at the Deer Valley Lodge would make me feel better. What a pretty lodge.

How FUN! I’ve been hearing more and more about Deer Valley. Being in Colorado we are pretty well supplied with ski areas but it would be fun to go explore this one!

We stayed here about 7 years ago for my brother-in-law’s wedding! So fun seeing the photos and bringing back the memories! Didn’t know about the free transportation, though. Great service!! I remember our condo was beautiful!!

I have never been snow skiing. The Lodges at Deer Valley looks like a great place to stay if I do get around to it. I like that I won’t have to do the driving in a new place.
We went here for a couple’s getaway but during the summer. We LOVED it! We also stayed at the Lodges. Such a wonderful place. We loved that we could hike up the mountain and have a free ride down the chairlift. So beautiful up there!
