When my mom was in the hospital a couple months back we decided to take a family vacation here in Texas. We picked JW Marriott in San Antonio because of the location from all our homes and activities for the kids. JW is a luxury line from the hotel chain Marriott.
This hotel is absolutely gorgeous and has everything to offer for families, business, conference, personal, relaxation and the golfing enthusiast. Our family did a bit of it all except for the business side of things since it was a family leisure trip. You are treated with great hospitality from the moment you arrive to when you get into your vehicle to head home.
When we first arrived we settled into our rooms and then headed down to the main hotel lobby bar for our 2 free welcome drinks (per room).
For dinner we ate at the High Velocity Sports bar located on the backside of the hotel. This sports bar is covered in HUGE TVs displaying all kinds of sport activities. The food is just as good ranging from salads, burgers, tacos and wings. Don’t worry you have all the traditional beverages there as well. Shaun and I both chose the bacon cheeseburger while my parents picked the fish tacos. Both were excellent choices and the price range for those meals was $14-$15.00.
The next morning we gathered bright and early at their “extraordinary water park.” It has 3 water slides for tubers and a lazy river. Their is the usual large pool accompanied by a kiddie pool with their own slides. A private adult pool with a large hot tub on the outbacks of the park to include seclusion from the large pool and all the visitors. One of the things that impressed me the most about the pool area was the hydraulic pool lift chairs they have for people with disabilities in several different pools. My mom was able to get from her wheel chair into a hot tub to relax with my dad with the ease of the chair.
For dinner that night Shaun and I decided to order a pizza from a local pizzeria outside of the hotel. The concierge got us in touch with the perfect restaurant.
The next day we spent another full day at the pool and my mother and I left a little early to go to the spa to get our nails done. It had been a long time since she had been pampered so I knew that she would love a little love on her nails. Before dinner we all went to the fire pit to get our daily dose of smores. You may be asking why we went before dinner it was due to late dinner reservations and the smores pit closing at 8.
After smores we all gathered for a family meal at Cibolo Moon restaurant at the hotel. While walking my way to our table I was able to take a sneak peak at several dishes being completed. The shrimp and grits caught my eye. Now I have to be honest with you. I NEVER in a million years would have thought I would order this as a main meal over steak or the market fish. This meal was so good that I really wanted to lick or smear my finger across the entire plate just so I could have more of it. Dinner was absolutely grand! We even returned for their breakfast buffet the next morning.
Here are some family photos from the weekend! My middle sister and her husband missed out on the photos on the day I took the camera to the pool.

*Price was extremely high but I understand it is Summer time and you truly pay for what you get. Also, there is a $28.00 resort charge per day and I feel like that should already be included in the stay since we didn’t use any of the resort fee discounts offered from that 28.00 fee. Some of those discounts were spa restaurant discount and golf discount.*
We would definitely return to this hotel but would try to find a cheaper time to go.
Disclosure: I was not paid for this review and just decided to do it since we like to travel.
