Start your holiday gathering off with these easy Honey Bacon Goat Cheese Bites.
The stockings are up, the lights are dangling from the top of the house, the fire is crackling and I’m trying to put together my Christmas dinner list. I almost forgot to mention that I’m sipping on a spiked hot cocoa drink while listening to Christmas carols in the background. Oh, the holiday life…
I’m thinking about a prime rib, buttered herb rolls, salad and mashed potatoes. However, every party needs to start off with a good appetizer to get it going. I’ll be adding these easy Honey Bacon Goat Cheese Phyllo Bites to my list this year. Any appetizer that involves bacon is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
This recipe is easy to prepare and you only need a few minimal ingredients. Let’s start off with baked bacon right out of the oven. Let it cool off before chopping and then mix it in with cream cheese, goat cheese, parsley, fennel seeds and some honey. Whip it up real good with a hand held mixer and then place small round balls into the Athen’s Mini Fillo Shells. The only baking done with this recipe is with the bacon, because the fillo shells come ready to serve. All you need to do is just fill them with this Honey Bacon Goat Cheese mixture and you are ready to go.
This whole appetizer takes about 20 minutes from start to finish with a little cooling off time in the process. Make sure you buy extra ingredients just in case you want to devour a couple for yourself.
In a bowl add all of the ingredients except for the fillo shells. Using a hand held mixer blend until everything is well combined.
Using a scooper or spoon create small round balls and place in the center of the fillo shells. Repeat until all mixture has been used.
Serve cold.
