Happy hour anyone? Seriously, I stay pretty busy these days with work, kids and trying to keep things tidy at home. Sometimes I just need a little cocktail, beer or wine to help celebrate the long tidiest day that I’ve just experienced.
Every couple of months I try to come up with a cocktail or some fun beverage to be shared with loved ones or just to have on hand when the kids go to bed. These drinks don’t happen often enough for me and I’m usually celebrating something or having a date night before I enjoy a refreshing beverage. Those date nights seem to be far and few between as well.
After rummaging through the alcohol cabinet above the oven, probably not the best place, I pulled down some rum, vodka and pomegranate simple syrup. Then took a few steps to the refrigerator to see what else I could include in my cocktail. I settled upon some lovely looking Meyer lemons that I just bought from local store. Nothing beats a Meyer lemon in my opinion. From that same store trip, I came home with a lavender plant. One that I’m trying hard to keep alive in this blistering heat. So far so good… I cut off a couple of sprigs from the plant and decided to use as a garnish.
The long hectic day ended for my husband and me; we toasted to a wonderful week and weekend with this Garden Tea Cocktail.
In a bowl combine tea, simple syrup, rum and vodka. Pour over a cup filled with ice. Top it off with lemon slices and lavender sprigs.

What is pomegranate grenadine simple syrup? Is there a recipe?
Hi Deb,
You can find it at your local liquor store or some grocery stores may carry grenadine simple syrups. Feel free to substitute if you can’t find the pomegranate one.
