Welcome to my first post of the new series called Tried and True. I have been wanting to give back to other bloggers for quite some time but didn’t know how to go about it. Every day I check out over a hundred blogs to see whats going on in their lives and to see their beautiful photos and recipes. I comment, I pin, I tweet and I drool over their recipes. This series is going to allow me to make some of these recipes and to let YOU know that they worked.
This past month when we took a vacation to San Antonio I fell in love with a shrimp and grits dish at the hotel. When I saw this photo floating around Pinterest I knew that I wanted it to be my first dish to make on this series. All the ingredients compliment one another very well in this recipe. Now I know the recipe says squares but mine tend to be more like a rectangle. Oh well close enough.
I decided to ask Lauren some random questions so that you can learn a little bit more about her.
What is your favorite meal?
My favorite meal is crispy corn chicken tacos topped with tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, jalapenos, pico de gallo, and an obscene amount of guacamole!
What is your favorite beverage?
My favorite beverage is a hard one to nail down. I adore a glass of bubbly. But I will never pass up a cold IPA beer or a glass of Malbec.
Tell me a random fact about yourself.
A random fact about me: Before I moved to Denver, I lived in Chicago and worked downtown at the Board of Trade. I was very fortunate to land a job right after college before the whole economic downturn. Even though I worked 14 hour days and dealt with some crazy people, it was truly the best learning experience of my life.
What do you like most about having a blog?
The one thing I love most about having my blog is meeting new people. I am constantly inspired by others in the food blogging community and the fact that I get to call them friends, is a true blessing. Plus, writing a food blog is the best excuse to make some seriously delicious food!
Savory or sweet?
I am definitely a savory girl at heart. Pizza, nachos, chips with salsa make me swoon. I swear I have a black yeast thumb.
If you could cook for a celebrity, who would that be?
Yikes! That’s a tough one. I think I would pick James Lipton. You know the guy that interviews everyone on Bravo’s, Inside the Actors Studio. Not only would I loved to be interviewed by him, but I would love to listen to him describe how my food tastes, good or bad.
True story – I have never had shrimp and grits either. But I feel like I REALLY need to now. But I think I have to travel down south to get the real deal before I start making it myself. These look totally legit to me, maybe I should save the airfare and start with these 😉
I love this new series and I love Lauren!!!
