Before packing up for Disney World in January, we took the family out for one last pizza night before the big trip. The kids are always requesting a pizza night at least once a week and I don’t think my husband and I ever turn them down. It was just a short drive to Dion’s in Lubbock on a cold, snowy day. Don’t fret if you don’t live in Lubbock because there are other locations available.
At every Dion’s you can actually see the workers make every single pizza by hand. The sauce is whisked daily by hand and they even shred their own cheese each day. You can choose pizzas from the more traditional side like: pepperoni, the carnivore (meat lovers) to vegetables. If you feel like trying new flavors go for the gourmet selection which is a thinner crust compared to the Original pizzas.
The kids enjoy seeing their dinner being made through the looking glass. This time around the adults tried a few other dishes besides ordering the typical pizza. Our meal started off with the Chicken Pecan Salad with Blue Cheese Crumbles, the Italian sandwich (NEW PERSONAL FAVORITE), the gourmet Tuscany pizza which is topped off with sun-dried tomatoes and artichoke hearts and the kids ordered their usual pepperoni pizza. (Note: pizza is picture is a small) After dinner I let the kids splurge on a warmed up fudge brownie. I highly recommend getting them to warm one up for you while dining. It’s something that you won’t regret.
My favorite dish was the Italian sandwich, featured above, which is loaded with ham, pepperoni, salami, cheese, bell peppers, olives, red onions, tomatoes and dressing. In fact, I ordered it again just two nights ago when it was pizza night at our house.
If you feel like making your own pizza at home but don’t have the time to make the dough. Run by your local Dion’s and pick up their pizza making kit. It features the dough, pizza sauce, cheese and one topping of your choice. It’s also a great way to incorporate your kids in the dinner process.
Thank you for a wonderful dining experience and we can’t wait to return for our next pizza night. Click to see the MENU.
