This past week I wrote about our trip to Deer Valley. Now it’s time to talk about the good food that we indulged in for that weekend. Believe me there was plenty of it and I’m still thinking about some of those restaurants.
The first night we arrived in Deer Valley we dropped off our bags at The Lodges and headed to Fireside Dining. This restaurant is a food lovers dream. It gives you the feel of a campfire meal but you are nestled away in the comfort of a building. We started off with melted cheese with bread, then crawfish étouffée and salad, moved on to roasted leg of lamb and then finished with melted chocolate fondue. If you prefer one station over the other you can just go back for seconds. You could say we were a bit stuffed when we left this restaurant.
The next morning we woke up in our beautiful condo and proceeded to go downstairs for free breakfast. Who doesn’t love a good breakfast that is included with a hotel. The Lodges offer a build your own waffle bar, cereal station, bread bar, plus meat and cheese selections. The tables are family style round ones where many groups can sit together. We were able to meet many interesting people for our daily breakfasts.
After a full day of skiing we ate at Royal Street Cafe. I was thinking of the typical mountain food for lunch but I was totally wrong. First course was the crab tower. I’m a sucker for a good appetizer and this one definitely hit the spot in my empty belly. Shaun then devoured his pulled pork sandwich while I devoured the Heber Valley Artisan White Cheddar Cheeseburger. After all that food we finally decided to share a chocolate chip cookie. I almost forgot about the amazing blueberry mojito. I will definitely be trying to remake that drink. Mojitos are by far my favorite alcoholic drink.
Basically endless amounts of seafood at your disposal. The seafood buffet is located in the dining hall located at the base of the mountain. I was in seafood heaven. There were fresh crab legs, boiled shrimp, sushi, seafood side dishes, mahi mahi, ahi tuna, oysters and other items for non seafood lovers. After checking out all the many stations we both went back for seconds to the fresh crab station. They even give you your own crab crackers to open up the claws and a hot towel to wipe down your hands. After this whole dining experience we needed to be rolled back to our room. We were literally stuffed full of seafood.
On Saturday we decided to meet up with some of my friends who drove down from Salt Lake City. We had lunch at the Deer Valley Grocery Cafe. It’s a quaint little cafe that is perfect for a lunch pick me up. While I was there I picked up a package of Deer Valley’s famous turkey chile. I brought it back as a gift to my parents for watching Olivia.
After lunch we proceeded to the Montage resort where we had a quick snack at Burgers and Bourbon. Our snack consisted of spiked s’more milkshakes. I will definitely be recreating that drink.
On our last night in Deer Valley we were treated to dinner at Glitretrind in Stein Eriksen lodge. This is the only 5 start hotel in all of Utah. It was beyond gorgeous and the hospitality was great. For dinner we started off with a warm basket of bread and homemade butter. The chef then sent out a small amuse bouche of black bass ceviche (I could have that as my meal). Shaun ordered the elk tenderloin and I was intrigued with their duck and waffles. I mean come on you don’t get to eat that every day. Dinner was finished with an assortment on fine chocolates.
We throughly enjoyed eating our way through Deer Valley and all of our gracious hosts that weekend! I’m already planning another weekend to return.
