I’m always up for a good sandwich. I love knowing that you can put whatever you want between two slices of bread and it turn out to be the most amazing thing ever.
Yes, I feel that way even with just lunch meat and a slice of cheese. No, seriously!
Now I have a confession to make to you all. I’m not a huge fan of meatballs and I never have been. I don’t want them in my spaghetti or anything else. For some odd reason the other night I had a strange craving for meatballs. I decided to make a sandwich instead of adding them to noodles or calzone. You also can’t go wrong with fresh mozzarella melted on top of the meatball marinara sandwich.
What is your favorite sandwich? Mine would have to be bread, lunch meat, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, olives with salt and pepper.
ENJOY!
Heat a skillet over medium heat with a little bit of olive oil.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl combine all of the ingredients except for the marinara sauce, mozzarella and bread. Use your hands to mix everything together. Using a spoon or cookie scoop make round balls about the size of 1 Tbsp. Place in the skillet to cook. Brown the meatballs on all sides about 12-15 minutes. Pour the marinara sauce over the top of all meatballs and place in oven for 10 minutes.
Remove the meatballs and place 3 on a hoagie bun and top with slices of mozzarella cheese. Heat in a toaster oven or place back in oven to melt the cheese on top.
