Growing up in a small town in Texas, fish wasn’t a common meal unless it was fried catfish. It wasn’t until college where I had my first piece of sushi or raw piece of fish. It’s not something I sit at home and just crave. Almost six months ago I had my first ahi tuna salad and I can say that I was in love at first bite. Now I can’t seem to get enough of this salad. Well, I went to the store today thinking I am going to try and make my own ahi tuna salad. If you like tuna and salads then you won’t be disappointed and you have my word. ENJOY!
Ingredients:
1 ahi tuna steak (approx. less than a 1lb.)
1 1/2 Tbsp olive oil
Sea salt and pepper
1/4 cup mango salsa
2 cups lettuce mix
2 Tbsp. asian sesame dressing
Preparation:
Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in sauce pan over medium/high heat
Rub tuna steak with 1/2 Tbsp olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper very generously on each side
Cook for 2-3 minutes and then flip for another 2-3 minutes
If you like your tuna more rare cook each side less than 2 minutes
When tuna is done remove and slice against the grain
Plate with lettuce and then top with tuna slices
Top with mango salsa and drizzle with the asian sesame dressing
Delicious!I found you from the foodie blog roll and I’d love to guide Foodista readers to your site. I hope you could add this Yellowfin Tuna widget at the end of this post so we could add you in our list of food bloggers who blogged about recipes for Ahi or Yellowfin Tuna, thanks!
Looks light and refreshing– perfect now that the weather is starting to heat up! Looks especially easy using prepared mango salsa– need to look for that at the store the next time.
This looks super refreshing! I am going to have to look for that salsa at the super market, for those days I dont want to slave over cutting everything up.
I have to admit I have never cooked ahi tuna. I love it, but I have never cooked it. This looks really fresh and yummy, I think I may have to try this out as my first ahi tuna experience
One of my favorite sushi rolls includes ahi tuna and mango, great combo!

You know; I’m ashamed to say that other than in sushi, I have NEVER had fresh tuna. But looking at this recipe makes me want to give it a try.
That prepackaged mango salsa looks pretty good. I am sure it works well with the tuna. A nice fresh summer dish.

Love ahi tuna! Love mangoes too!
In fact, I just had an ahi tuna salad last night for dinner. It didn’t have mangoes though. Mangoes would have been awesome.
